#include /* Your warranty is now void. I am not responsible for bricked BIOSes, dead IDE drives, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because you installed this onto your office computer. Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this OS before installing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you. */ You have been warned, let's continue(sorry i had to lmao). Welcome to ADOS, which is A Disk Operating System, hence the name. Features: - Read/Write ATA driver - Kernel panic - Run executables from disk - PS/2 driver - FAT32 FILESYSTEM!!!!! Build process: Prerequesties: - A cross compiler (i686-elf) - Make - xorriso - Optionally: QEMU for testing Building is really simple. Do a 'make kernel clean' to generate the boot.iso image. The kernel binary is located at isofiles/boot/ados. To test it in QEMU, do a 'make test'. Make sure that in the working directory there is a disk.img raw image file that contains a valid FAT32 partition. Installation: This section is a stub, as there is no installation process. Burn the iso file onto a CD-R disc or flash it onto a pendrive. Note: this operating system uses BIOS functions unavailable in UEFI mode. Make sure you have a PC BIOS compatible device with any hard drives running in IDE mode, and a ps/2 keyboard plugged in or a USB keyboard in legacy mode. Usage: Upon booting, you get put into a command prompt that looks like this: Cleared the screen Initializing PICs... Detecting master hard drive... ATA drive detected in PIO mode! Available memory: 3072 KB Welcome to ADOS! >_ Here, you can type commands. There's a list of commands: - PANIC Trigger a kernel panic for testing purposes. - HELP Show list of commands. - LS list directory '/' If the command you written doesn't exist, you will get a message: [COMMAND]: Command not found. If the operating system runs into a critical error, it will trigger what's known as a kernel panic. It looks like this: KERNEL PANIC!!! [PANIC MESSAGE] Refer to the source code for more information, or ask us on the discord server: tklab.eu1.netbird.services/ados/. Version: [KERNEL VERSION] When you get a panic, feel free to look at the source code to maybe try to find the problem, or just ask me on the discord server: tklab.eu1.netbird.services/ados/ . Even if you don't have a problem with this OS, please join the server, i'd love you to come! Cheers, zyriu1
